ENGLISH TEXT
Title : Cinderella
Once upon a time, there lived an unhappy young
girl. She was unhappy because her mother was dead and her father married
another woman, a widow with two daughters. Her stepmother didn’t like her. All
the nice things, kind thoughts and loving touches were for her own daughters.
Not just the kind thoughts and love, but also dresses, shoes, delicious food,
comfy beds, as well as every home comfort. For the poor unhappy girl, there was
nothing at all. No dresses, no lovely dishes, no nice rests and comfort. For she
had to work hard all day, and only when evening came she was allowed to sit for
a while by the fire, near the cinders. That is how she got her nickname, for
everybody called her Cinderella.
One day, beautiful new dresses arrived at the
house. A ball was to be held at court and the stepsisters were getting ready to
go to it. Cinderella, didn’t eyen dare ask, “what about me ?” for she knew very
well what the answer to that woul be. “you ? my dear girl, you’re staying at
home to wash the dishes, scrub the floors and turn down the beds for your
stepsisters.
Suddenly something amazing happened. In the
kitchen, where Cinderella was sitting all by her self, there was a burst of
light and a Fairy appeared “don’t be alarmed, Cinderella,” said the Fairy. “i
know you would love to go to the ball. And you so shall.” “ how can I, dressed
in rags ?” Cinderella replied. “the servants will turn me away !” the Fairy
smilled. With a flick of her magic wand, Cinderella found herself wearing the
most beautiful dress, the loveliest ever seen in the realm.
“Now that we have settled the matter of the
dress,” said the Fairy, “we’ll need to get you a cart. A real lady would never
go to the ball on foot!” “Quick! Get me a pumpkin!” she ordered. “And bring me
seven mice!” Cinderella soon returned with a fine pumpkin an seven mice. With a
flick of her magic wand the pumpkin turned into a sparkling cart and the mice
became six white horses, while the
seventh mouse turned into a coachman, in a smart uniform.
Cinderella could hardly believe hes eyes. “ I
shall present you at Court. You will soon see that the Prince, in whose honour
the ball is being held, will be enchanted by your loveliness. But remember !
You must leave the ball at midnight an come home. For that is when the spell
ends. Your cart will turn back into a pumpkin, the horses will become mice
again and the coachman will turn back into a mouse and you will be dressed
again in rags and wearing clogs instead of these beautiful slippers! Do you
understand ?” Cinderella smiled and said “Yes, I understand!”
When Cinderella entered the ballroom at the
palace, everyone stopped in mid-sentence to admire her elegance, her beauty and
grace. When the Prince set eyes on Cinderella, he was struck by her beauty.
Walking over to her, he bowed deeply and asked her to dance. And to great
dissapointment of all the young ladies, he dance with Cinderella all evening.
“Who are you, fair maiden ?” The Prince kept asking her. But Cinderella only
replied : “what does it matter who i am! You will never see me again anyway.”
Cinderella had a woderfull time at the ball.
But, all of a sudden, she heard the sound of a clock. The first stroke of
midnight!. She remembered what the Fairy hed said, and wihout a word of goodbye
she slipped from the Prince’s arms and ran down the steps. As she ran she lost
one of her slippers, but not for a moment did she dream of stopping to pick it
up! Out she flied and vanished into the night.
The Prince, who was now madly in love with her,
picked up her slipper and said to his ministers, “Go and search everywhere for
a girl whose foot this slipper fits. I will never be content until I find her!”
so the ministers tried the slipper on the foot of all the girls and on
Cinderella’s foot as well. Surprise! The slipper fitted perfectly. “That awful
untidy girl simply cannot have been at the ball.” Snapped the stepmother. “Tell
the Prince he ought to marry one of my two daughters! Can’t you see how ugly
Cinderella is! Can’t you see ?” Suddenly she broke off, for the Fairy had
appeared. “that’s enough!” She exclaimed, raising her magic stick. In a flash,
Cinderella appeared in a splending dress, shinig with youth and beauty. Her
stepmother an step sisters gaped at her in amazement, and the ministers said,
“Come with us, fair maiden! the Prince awaits to present you with his
engangement ring!” So Cinderella joyfully went with them, and lived happily
ever after with the Prince.
CHAPTER II
TRANSLATION

Pada zaman dulu, hidup seorang gadis yang tidak
bahagia. Dia tidak bahagia karena Ibunya meninggal dan ayahnya menikah dengan
wanita lain, seorang janda dengan dua anak perempuan. Ibu tirinya tidak
menyukainya. Semua pikiran baik, kasih sayang dan sentuhan cintanya untuk dua
anak perempuannya. Tidak hanya kasih dan cinta, tetapi juga gaun, sepatu,
makanan yang enak, tempat tidur yang nyaman, selama yang baik seperti setiap
rumah yang nyaman. Untuk gadis tidak bahagia yang miskin, tidak segalanya,
tidak gaun, tidak kasih sayang, tidak tempat istirahat yang nyaman. Untuk dia
adalah bekerja keras setiap hari, dan hanya ketika malam datang, dia
diperbolehkan duduk di depan api, dekat bara api. Itulah bagaimana dia mendapat
nama panggilannya, setiap orang memanggilnya Sinderela.
Suatu hari, gaun baru yang cantik sampai ke
rumah. Ruangan pesta yang ada di istana, dan saudara perempuan tirinya
bersiap-siap untuk pergi ke sana. Sinderela merasa tidak adil dan berani
bertanya “bagaimana dengan aku ?” Dia tahu dengan baik apa yang akan dijawab
dari pertanyaannya. “kamu ? saudara perempuanku, kamu diam di rumah untuk
mencuci, menyediakan makanan, mengepel lantai dan membalik kasur untuk saudara
perempuanmu.”
Tiba-tiba, sesuatu yang menakjubkan terjadi. Di
dapur, dimana Sinderela duduk seorang diri, disana ada gemerlap cahaya dan Peri
muncul. “jangan khawatir, Sinderela.” Kata Peri. “Saya tau kamu ingin sekali
pergi ke sana. Dan kamu dapat pergi.” “bagaimana aku bisa, memakai baju yang
jelek ?” Sinderela menjawab. “para pelayan akan mengikutiku !” Peri tersenyum.
Dengan kerdipan dari sihirnya, Sinderela melihat dirinya memakai gaun yang
paling cantik, yang paling bagus yang pernah ia lihat di dunia.
“sekarang masalah gaun sudah selesai.” Kata
Peri. “ kita akan butuh untuk mendapatkan sebuah kereta. Gadis yang
sesungguhnya tidak akan pergi kesana dengan jalan kaki !” Cepat berikan saya
labu dan bawakan aku tujuh tikus !” dia meminta. Sinderela segera kembali
dengan labu yang bagus dan tujuh tikus. Dengan kerdipan dari sihirnya, labu
berubah menjadi kereta kencana dan tikus barubah menjadi kuda putih, saat itu,
tikus yang ke tujuh berubah manjadi pa Kusir, memakai seragam yang cocok.
Sinderela sulit sekali percaya dengan apa yang
dia lihat. “aku dapat menemanimu di istana. Kamu akan segera melihat sang
Pangeran, ini merupakan suatu kehormatan di ruang pesta, yang akan dipenuhi
oleh cintamu. Tapi ingat ! kamu harus meninggalkan ruang pesta pada tengah
malam dan kembali pulang. Sihirnya akan berakhir. Keretamu akan kembali menjadi
labu, kudanya akan menjadi tikus lagi dan Pa kusir akan kembali menjadi tikus,
dan kamu akan kembali memakai baju yang jelek dan memakai bakiak dari sepatu
yang cantik. Apakah kamu mengerti ?” Sinderela tersenyum dan berkata, “Ya saya
mengerti.”
Ketika Sinderela masuk ke ruang pesta di
istana, setiap orang berhenti untuk mengagumi keelokannya, kecantikan dan
keanggunannya. Ketika sang Pangeran melihat Sinderela, dia takjub oleh
kecantikannya. Berjalan ke arahnya lalu dia mengajaknya untuk menari san untuk
acara yang baik dari semua gadis, dia menari dengan Sinderela sepanjang malam.
“siapa kamu, gadis yang baik ?” sang Pangeran bertanya padanya, namun Sinderela
hanya menjawab “tak penting kau tahu siapa aku ! kamu tidak akan pernah
melihatku lagi nanti.”
Sinderela mempunyai waktu yang sangat baik di
Ruang pesta. Tetapi, tiba-tiba dia mendengar suara sebuah jam. Denting pertama
dari tengah malam. Dia ingat apa yang Peri katakan, dan tanpa ucapan selamat
tinggal dia melepas tangannya dari tangan sang Pangeran dan berlari menuruni
tangga. Ketika dia berlari, dia kehilangan satu dari sepatunya, tetapi tidak
ada waktu untuk berhenti dan mengambil sepatu itu keluar. Dia terbang dan
menghilang pada malam hari.
Sang Pangeran, sekarang sangat jatuh cinta
padanya, mengambil sepatu nya dan berkata pada menterinya “pergi dan cari dimana saja kepada setiap gadis yang
memiliki kaki yang pas dengan sepatu ini. Saya tidak akan berhenti sampai aku
menemukannya. Menteri mencoba sepatu ini di kaki dari semua wanita dan di kaki
Sinderela cocok. Kejutan, sepatu ini cocok denagn sangat sempurna. Seorang
wanita sederhana yang tak rapi tidek dapat memiliki itu. Kata Ibu tirinya “
beritahukan pada Pangeran sebaiknya dia menikahi satu dari dua anak
perempuannya ! apa kamu tidak lihat betapa jeleknya Sinderela ! apa kamu tidak
lihat ?” Tiba-tiba dia menghentikan pembicaraannya dan Peri muncul “Cukup !”
dia berseru, mengangkat tongkat sihirnya. Di sebuah cahaya, Sinderela muncul
dengan gaun yang baik sekali, bersinar dan kelihatan muda dan cantik. Ibu tiri
dan saudara perempuannya takjub kepadanya, dan menteri berkata “Ikutlah bersama
kami, gadis yang baik ! Pangeran manunggu kehadiranmu untuk menghadiri acara
pertunangan ! Jadi Sinderela senag pergi dengannya dan hidup bahagia selamanya
dengan Pangerannya.
